Mike Walsh has only 26 days to go until his sponsored triathlon supporting injured soldiers and the families of those killed whilst serving in the armed forces.
Everybody from OES would like to wish Mike all the best on his difficult challenge and we encourage others to donate to his worthwhile cause.
To celebrate Mike’s 50th birthday we will be holding a triathlon over the Thursday 17th and 18th April. This will start with a 1 mile swim (at Mike’s) at 9am sharp and then be followed by a 40 mile bike ride. The bike ride will start at Rhuallt, heading to Rhyl and then on to Rhos-on-Sea before returning along the coastal bike path to Prestatyn (Nova Centre). The following morning, again at 9am sharp, we will meet at the Nova again, to start a 15 mile walk, which is likely to follow the Offa’s Dyke path to Bodfari, before returning to Rhuallt (Mike’s) for an afternoon of good food, recovery beer/wine and entertainment. For those of you who know Mike, you will appreciate that he is not ‘built’ for a conventional triathlon hence taking 2 days to cover the three specially selected events. Those eagle eyed amongst you, will also notice that the distance to be covered does NOT add up to 50 miles… the challenge is based on the fact that Mike will reach his half century on 15th April… hopefully he will have finished his celebrations in time for the early start!!
