Companies with poor Cyber Security to be fined up to £17m

Businesses across the UK could be fined as much as £17 million if they do not put the correct safeguards in place to protect themselves from cyber-attacks.

The new government directive will apply from May 2018 and follows 14 key principles set out by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)

Companies responsible for critical infrastructure the energy, transport, water and health sectors will be expected to have the highest security levels or face large fines.
